Questions?

Things to know about your upcoming visit to Avidity. Please follow these guidelines to help ensure everyone has a safe, fun, and fabulous experience.

Relax and enjoy!

Reservations?

Nope. Don’t take ‘em. Drop ins all day long. Call ahead for groups of 10+. Spontaneous, old school, go where the wind takes you… There’s no scheduling in wine tasting!

Large Groups (10+)?

Please call ahead and let us know you are coming. Bottle purchases only.

Seating?

Lots of indoor seating and outdoor seating on the patio. We have a large lawn if you want to bring your own blankets or lawn chairs. During the winter months, we have a large heated Pavilion and fire pits outside.

Dogs?

Good dogs on a leash are welcome. Take whatever they leave behind with you.

Kids?

We allow children when they stay seated with you. Please use your restaurant voice.

Outside Food?

As a courtesy, we allow outside food within reason (don’t bring your Crock-Pot or Weber). Please take your trash with you. We also offer a tasty Patio Party Platter (aka charcuterie plate) for purchase.

Last Tasting?

How fast can you drink? We close at 6:00, so keep that in mind. We don’t begin new tastings after 5:30. Glass pours and bottle purchases are available after 5:30.

No, you can’t stay after hours and hang out no matter how nice or good looking you are.

Outside Alcohol?

NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL PERMITTED (includes beer and previously purchased Avidity wine). Not only is it against OLCC regulations, it isn’t cool. As an option, we offer a limited selection of beer for non-wine drinkers.

Non-Alcoholic Drinks?

We’ve got water fresh from the springs of the Parrett Mountain aquifer. Yum!

Smokes?

No matter how bad you want to, don’t do it. The fire risk during much of the year is too high. There is also the annoyance to other guests factor too.

Can I walk through the vineyard like every movie I’ve ever seen?

Sorry. No. We know it’s romantic, but we are a working farm and there are potential hazards.

What’s Your Story?

Here goes the short version. Through a friend’s introduction, Rich and Julie (a native Oregonian) met during a night out on the town Cinco De Mayo 2006 at the now defunct Betty Ford’s Night Club in Portland (foreshadowing?). With an instant connection over their love of music, they soon became best friends. Julie enjoyed watching (and listening) to Rich jam with his band made up of dads from Sherwood (So metal, right?). It’s not every day you meet a guy with a drum kit, bass, and electric guitar set up in his living/dining room. On weekends they began to enjoy the hobby of wine tasting (Rich calls it a sport.). Julie was the first to take the leap of joining a wine club (What?! Crazy, Rich thought.). Fast forward, after getting married and raising a combined family, their 5 kids mostly moved on to bigger and better things. Hmmmm. No kids (Ok, one is still at home, but he’s got plans). What could/should they do with their future? Note that, over the years, and 14 wine clubs later, the wine thing became more of a passion. Maybe this love of friends, family, music, and wine could be combined to create a place of their own?

With Julie’s background in sales and hospitality (Julie’s mom owned several restaurants where she worked) and Rich’s background in design (see LinkedIn if you want a resume), they decided to combine their skills to create a place they would want to be. No longer wanting to work for the man, Rich was first to jump ship from the corporate world. Knowing many people in the wine business, including some friends with vineyards, they knew they could do this. They soon found the perfect “easy to get to” property with the spectacular views they were looking for and made the long move in 2017 from Sherwood, Oregon to Newberg, Oregon (A whole 5 minute drive!). Ok, this all sounds pretty easy, right? Not so fast! Next came finding great winemakers, vineyard development and management, contractors, and property clearing (Yes, they had to remove an overgrown Christmas tree farm and removed a double wide manufactured home.).

Rich and Julie were able to officially open the doors to their new tasting room October 2018! It’s been quite the ride ever since! Livin’ the dream! With Rich and Julie Schoenert at the helm and the help of a great team, they look forward to sharing their wine and home with you. We will see you soon!
